Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has met with Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar in Rio de Janiero where he was attending the World Economic Conference.
Persad-Bissessar and Blair discussed matters relating to the efficiency and efficacy of government.
The Prime Minister also discussed with Blair her personal agenda, which involves the empowerment of women and girls. Blair who was the first UK Prime mInister to appoint a woman as Chief Whip.
In an interview after the meeting Blair encouraged Persad-Bissessar to push along with the agenda to empower women and girls. He noted that it's not about reducing the role of men as much as it is about giving women and girls the opportunity to be make significant contributions to economic and social devlepment.
Blair also expressed an interest in helping to develop the Latin American region.
