Ramadhar related to family of Chrystal Ramsoomair, may not sit on team probing matter

The Prime Minister said on Wednesday she has now learned that Legal Affairs Minister Prakash Ramadhar may be related the family of the late Chrystal Ramsoomair and will ask him not to sit as part of the team investigating the firing of former South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) CEO Paula Chester-Cumberbatch.

Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced on Monday that Ramadhar would be on a three-member ministerial team would investigate the industrial relations matter relating to the impasse at the San Fernando General Hospital.

However speaking with reporters at a Powergen children's event in Penal, she said she may have to reconsider his position on the team after learning that Ramadhar may be related to the Ramsoomair family

The Prime Minister also said she would be seeking a meeting with doctors and nurses. 
 
The committee originally comprised Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh, Labour Minister Errol McLeod and Ramadhar.

"This inter-ministerial committee is dealing with industrial relations matters...Once we have that fact finding we will be better able to deal with the situation and grievances that the doctors and nurses may have," she said.
