PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar with her British Counterpart David Cameron |
Persad-Bissessar is pleased with the visit. “It has been very successful I must say. Every meeting that we have held has been one of hope and vision. If I were to say, I would say this has been one of our best trips thus far in terms of outcomes and follow up work,” state media CNMG quoted her as saying.
She led a powerful delegation that included business executives who paid their own way and a cultural contingent that was funded by the business community
Among the events on the trip were the launch of the Children’s Life Fund, inviting nationals and the Caribbean Diaspora to contribute to it.
“It will be governed by the terms of legislation which is to give transparency and accountability. We do not want, where people are collecting money for the Life Fund, I do not want any cent, or hint of corruption associated with our children and this Life Fund,” she said
