PM Kamla and cabinet colleagues meet Australian HC to London

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is seeking the support of her Australian counterpart, Julia Gillard, or that country’s Governor-General Quinton Bryce for a colloquium in June of World Leaders as Agents of Change at the next meeting of UN General Assembly in September.

During discussions with Australia's High Commissioner to London, John Dauth, Sunday evening, she also sought his country's support for a meeting in Perth on outcomes of the Colloquium and for Australia to vigorously pursue at the next CHOGM in Perth, a Consensus Statement on Women.

The Prime Minister told Dauth that she will be attending a meeting in April of World Women's Leaders organized by the Organization of American States.

She and DAUTH exchanged pleasantries, discussing as well, the importance of the Commonwealth as a value-based organization linking half of the world's population and enjoying great traditions of democracy, human rights and freedoms.

He agreed to her request to locate in Australia, Larry Highman, one of her Professors at the UWI, Mona, Jamaica.

Also attending the cordial discussions were Foreign Minister Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, Trade Minister Stephen Cadiz, Local Government Minister Chandresh Sharma and Food Production Minister Vasant Bharath who joined the team following his trip to Indonesia.
