Tobago keeping its Jack

There are no challengers, so Ashworth Jack is keeping his job as political leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People (T.O.P) Ashworth Jack.

The party, which is a member of the governing People's partnership coalition, is holding its internal elections on January 30.

When nominations closed on Monday, no one opposed Jack for the leadership. Commenting on the endorsement, Jack said he sees it as a signal of "the clear confidence" his party has placed in his leadership style and abilities.

Four members are challenging Ian Pollard for the position as general secretary. Stanley Beard is defending his post as chairman against former secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Claude Benoit. The other posts don't have challengers.
