Jack Warner issued a media statement Saturday wishing Opposition Leader a speedy recovery from his recent surgery.
The chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) was responding to media reports that as a result of the minor surgery Rowley would be out of Parliament for two weeks.
He said he hopes the period of his recovery would not be a long one and that Rowley can quickly resume his duties as Opposition Leader and Political Leader of the People's National Movement.
"There are several important pieces of legislation, the successful completion of which would depend on the individual and collective wisdom and contribution of all members of the House, including the Opposition," Warner noted.
He said, "Dr. Rowley is one of the most experienced members of Parliament and his contribution to debate is always treated with the respect and value befitting a politician with such vast experience. We look forward to his continued involvement in parliamentary debates."
Warner extended his best wishes on behalf of the UNC in his capacity as Party Chairman. "I wish to extend sincerest wishes for a quick and speedy recovery to the Leader of the Opposition," he said.
