PM Kamla holds first of 6 Christmas parties for kids

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is hosting more than 3,000 children in Port of Spain Saturday. It's the first of six similar Christmas parties for children across the country.

The inaugural event is for children from the Diego Martin and Port-of-Spain constituencies. The intention is to cover all 41 constituencies.

The event is an extension of the traditional Christmas treat for kids in the Siparia constituency which hosting every year as the MP. However, she is extending it to children everywhere since she is now the leader of the country.

A special committee is coordinating the six events to ensure that the children arrive and leave the venues safely and that everything is in place for the them to have a good time. She has got help for the project from the business community as well as councillors and chair persons of regional corporations.

The organisers are catering for 400 children from each constituency. However the Prime Minister has given instructions that no child must be turned away.
