MP Sharma among 89 who failed to file declaration of assets with IC

LOCAL Government Minister Chandresh Sharma and former Couva South MP are on a list of 89 persons who did not file declarations of assets, income and liabilities with the Integrity Commission for the year 2007 as required by law.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar last week urged members of her Government, local government officials and members of state boards to ensure that they comply with the requirements of the Integrity in Public Life Act.

The list has been published under the provisions of Section 11 (6) of the Integrity in Public Life Act.

They include Permanent Secretary Alison Lewis and Director General of the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority Ramesh Lutchmedial for his post at the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.

Others on the list include:
  • Newton George, husband of former Attorney General Bridgid Annisette-George in his capacity as an official of CEPEP
  • Robert Riley, former board member of Caribbean Airlines
  • Malcolm Jones, former chairman of the National Energy Corporation Corporation
  • Unanan Persad, former deputy chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority.
Sharma told reporters he did not know his name was on the list and promised to comment on the matter after making enquiries.
