Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Saturday hosted the first of six Christmas parties she is holding this year for the nation's children.
The event, held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, was for children from seven north and western constituencies - three in Diego Martin and four Port of Spain.
On Sunday she will host children from eastern constituencies at the Arima Velodrome. The intention is to treat a minimum of 400 children from each of the 41 constituencies.

Persad-Bissessar has traditionally held a Christmas event in her own constituency of Siparia. However she decided that since she is now the prime minister the event should be expanded to the whole country.
The PTSC provided transport for the children, who arrived accompanied by parents and guardians.
In a brief address, Persad-Bissessar spoke about the miser Scrooge who never understood the meaning of Christmas until he was faced with images of his past, present and future, showing a wasted life devoid of life and affection.
She told the children they must never allow themselves to think like Scrooge. Instead, she said, they must always show love, kindness and generosity, particularly at Christmas time.
The Prime Minister said Christmas is a time to remember those who are sad and lonely, less fortunate and also those who have shown kindness. It is a time to do more for others. "We must return to a spirit of love for each other," Persad-Bissessar said.
She sang along with the children in a chorus: "See good, be good, do good and good will follow you".
And she mingled with the children, handing out snacks, gifts and toys. Santa and Mrs Claus accompanied her.
