Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar told reporters Thursday this is going to be a good Christmas for citizens.
She said Finance Minister Winston Dookeran is doing his best to ensure that outstanding wage and salaries negotiations are settled soon and that contractors get the money owed to them by the state.
She said Dookeran is also planning to pay depositors of the Hindu Credit Union the $75,000 promised the the budget.
Dookeran said earlier in the week he plans to begin that payout by the beginning of December. Dookeran also said he plans to pay Clico policyholders the $75,000 promised.

The Prime Minister also said Cabinet is looking at proposals for adjustment for Clico policyholders
Persad-Bissessar also said she is pleased with the IMF report issued on Tuesday that projects growth in the TT economy in 2011. The report has also endorsed then government's fiscal measures. “The IMF has given us a great report, I think that is very heartening news for us,” she added.
