The President of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union (OWTU) told local media Friday he expects a new board at the state-owned Petrotrin within three weeks.
Ancel Roget said he got that assurance from Energy Minister, Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, who met Friday for three hours with officialsof the union.
The company is the subject of a forensic audit. Roget said the minister promised a reorganisation of the company structure and the removal of political appointees from the previous administration.
Roget expressed concern about the direction of the company, suggesting that in its present state Petrotrin is in serious trouble and cannot go forward. He also called on the minister to ensure that criminal charges to be laid "against those found of any malfeasance" within the organisation.
"We want to rid Petrotrin of the people that are keeping back the company," he told the Trinidad Express.

Roget described the meeting as "long and fruitful". However he stopped short of saying that he is confident that it will change Petrotrin's downhill slide.
