Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is going to New York next week on government business.
Works Minister Jack Warner is likely to be appointed acting PM while she is away.
He served in that capacity in July when Persad-Bissessar was out of the country to attend the CARICOM summit and visit Florida.
On her return from the overseas visit she commended Warner for the manner in which he conducted the state's business and said she would put him in charge again.
