Ramjack wants changes to UNC election rules

The Movement for Change led by United United Congress (UNC) deputy leader Jack Warner has written to the national executive (NATEX) of the party listing 93 concerns with the proposed manual and rules for the January 24, 2010 Internal Party Elections.

NATEX is meeting Wednesday at the Rienzi Complex to discuss the election.

Among the discrepancies listed by the Ramjack group are:
  • Ambiguity and lack of critical information regarding special voters and special voting
  • Concerns over the security of voting items such as ballot papers and ballot boxes
  • Several issues concerning the availability and accuracy of the list of electors
  • The availability of the preliminary list for only three days
  • The availability of the revised list only be on election morning
It also stated that the rules leave out important details on when and where to submit nomination forms and other critical documents.

It has also complained that the timeline is not in the proper order to minimise corruption of the process.

It alleges that the Panday-led team will be the sole selectors of election day staff and that this will be done in secret.

The Ramjack group believes the rules are biased and gives an unfair advantage to the current political leader and his supporters, which presents an opportunity for a rigged election.
