The poll was conducted before Warner disbanded the Ramjack group, so people were asked whether they would support Ramjack members Warner, Ramesh L. Maharaj or Winston "Gypsy" Peters against the incumbent leader.
The result was overwhelminly in Warner's favour, even from Indo-UNC members. This is what the results suggest:
- Warner - 30 per cent
- Panday - 14 per cent
- Maharaj - 11 per cent
- Peters - 02 per cent
The result was still in Warner's favour. Panday got 19 per cent and Warner was at 32 per cent, well ahead of Maharaj, who scored 14 per cent.
What the results seem to suggest is a changing attitude to ethnic politics with voters making choices based on an individual's performance, not ethnicity.
