The Government and two parties involved in the $1.6 billion terminal building project have reached an agreement to repay the government the $30 million.
This payment would bring to $250 million the amount that the government has recovered following a forensic audit of the billion-dollar project.
A media release from the Ministry of the Attorney General Monday stated that the recovery of the money results from a court order issued last Monday based on a settlement reached in a Miami, Florida, last Friday.
Gopeesingh said all of that money belongs to the Trinidad and Tobago taxpayers and he wants to make sure there is a full accounting for the money.
"This is crucial because the government engages in full scale thievery and rape of the Treasury," Gopeesingh said in a posting on his Facebook wall.
"I call on all to support the UNC's efforts to get rid of the corrupt PNM regime," he said.
