Tabaquite MP Dr Surujrattan Rambachan has launched an MP's Cricket League, a first for the constituency. It is sponsored by Rambachan and CEPEP contractors working in the constituency.

The league is being played at two levels. There is a 20/20 night league with 17 teams and a 30-over Sunday league with 13 teams. The attraction is that the 20/20 matches are being played under lights. The prize money is $81,000.

The cricket league is part of a plan to develop sporting opportunities in Tabaquite. Last year the MP launched a successful Football League in which 12 teams participated. The football league is again scheduled for August/September.

In addition, Rambachan is developing a competition for table tennis enthusiasts and in order to stimulate interest he has already distributed five tennis boards across the constituency.

Rambachan has thanked constituent Reynold Sewdass, the person behind the organization and creative ideas for the league.
