Members of Jewish sect sent back to Canada

MEDIA RELEASE

On Saturday March 8th 2014 the National Operations Center of the Ministry of National Security and the Special Branch of the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service, in a joint operation with the Canadian authorities, the Trinidad & Tobago Immigration Services and the Airport's Authority of Trinidad & Tobago coordinated the successful repatriation of the Hasidic Jewish Group back to Canada from the Piarco International Airport.

A testimony to the sophistication of local law enforcement and intelligence apparatus, the sensitive nature of this operation and the risk to this country’s reputation required that it be conducted seamlessly and professionally. To achieve this the NOC Immigration Intelligence Team worked hand in hand with its overseas counterparts to ensure that the extraction was safe and well coordinated

Both local and foreign based Canadian Officials have expressed their gratitude and satisfaction with the local National Security architecture for the manner in which the delicate matter was handled.

Further information and updates would be provided as they come to hand.

Garvin Heerah | Commander, National Operations Center
