Keith Rowley announced his slate of candidates Monday for the May 18 internal election of the opposition People’s National Movement (PNM). His opponent, Pennelope Beckles-Robinson is waiting until nomination day on Friday to announce her team.
This is the first election in the PNM that would be decided by the general membership in a one-member, one vote system. Previously delegates to the party's convention elected the leader and officers but Rowley changed that shortly after he became leader of the party in 2010.
