Ian Alleyne OK after flipping vehicle in POS

Ian Alleyne was in the news again Thursday but not for his politics or his TV show.

The host of the Crime Watch television show who was the candidate for St Joseph in Monday's byelection was involved in an accident Wednesday night.

There were all kinds of conflicting reports about what happened but Alleyne told his version of the story in a media release from consultant Prior Beharry.

The release confirmed that Alleyne was involved in an accident, which occurred shortly after 10 pm Wednesday on Stone Street in Port-of-Spain.

"Contrary to reports circulating on the Internet, Mr. Alleyne categorically states that he was not in the company of any Government Ministers," the release stated.

It added, "Mr. Alleyne was driving his motor vehicle when it was suddenly hit from behind, resulting in his motor vehicle flipping. Fortunately, he suffered no serious injuries.

"Police and ambulance arrived on the scene within minutes...About 45 minutes later, CID officers arrived and, Officer Hosten conducted a field sobriety test on Mr. Alleyne and as a result there was no need for an evidence test.

"The test showed that he did not break the law and as a result these officers allowed him to leave."

The release noted that "did not do anything wrong or illegal".
