COP Leader Prakash Ramaadhar - will represent PP in Tuesday's debate |
The Trinidad and Tobago Debates Commission has invited four parties to send their leaders to participate in the debate - the People's National Movement (PNM), the People's Partnership (PP), the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) and the Movement for Social Justice.
Senior representatives of the four parties attended last Thursday's debate in which UNC Deputy Leader Suruj Rambachan represented the PP. That debate was for senior representatives of each party.
The leader of the Congress of the People told reporters Sunday Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who is the leader of the PP and also of the UNC, has asked him to represent the PP in the debate.
Ramadhar was speaking at the launch of COP’s 'Total Local' manifesto at Flagship House in St. Clair Sunday morning.

Local media reports have stated that all four leaders would attend - Keith Rowley, Jack Warner, David Abdullah and Persad-Bissessar. It is not clear is other leaders would have an objection to Ramadhar representing the coalition.
Last week Warner stated that he may not attend the debate if any of the political leaders decides to back out. Speaking at a political meeting in Montrose, Chaguanas on Thursday night, Warner insisted the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader must be present at the debate next week Tuesday.
