Former CL duo facing criminal charges for no-show at CLICO probe; Duprey, Monteil summoned for Wednesday

Two former executives of the CL empire are facing criminal charges under section 12 of the Commission of Enquiry Act for failing to appear before the Colman enquiry into Clico and the HCU.

They are Lennox Archer and Mala Gandhi. Archer is the former president of CLICO Investment Bank (CIB); Gandhi was the bank's vice-president. Enquiry officials had served subpoenas for them to appear Tuesday before the commission but neither showed up.

That led Sir Anthony Colman to initiate legal proceedings against them. "I think that is about all we can cover. There were no witnesses listed other than those two,” Sir Anthony stated Tuesday before closing the probe for the day.

Richard Trotman, a former CIB president, is scheduled to testify Wednesday.
Former CL Financial executive chairman Lawrence Duprey and former CL Financial group finance director Andre Monteil are also scheduled to appear before the commission Wednesday.
