The San Fernando East constituency offered prayers for its Member of Parliament Saturday at a special thanksgiving service for the prime minister.
The service had been planned before Patrick Manning suffered another medical setback and had to be rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital by ambulance for treatment Thursday evening. The hospital discharged him on Friday and Manning told reporters, "I am fine!"

On Saturday Manning's wife, Hazel and his sons Brian and David, were among supporters, friends and well wishers who attended the thanksgiving service. Others who were present were Keith Rowley, Amery Browne, Paula Gopee-Scoon, Alicia Hospedales and former Manning cabinet minister Mustapha Abdul Hamid.
Manning has been on continuous medical leave since he suffered a stroke on January 23, 2012. Parliament granted him a further 42-day extension in January this year, which expires in early March.
