Photo story: Maharaj elevated to Major General; Phillips-Spencer promoted to Brig.-Gen.

Two top Defence Force men have been promoted.

On Friday morning National Security Minister Jack Warner presented the men with their instruments of appointment.

Chief of defence Staff, Kenrick Maharaj, 53, has been elevated to the rank of Major General in the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.

Vice-Chief of Defence Staff, Anthony Phillips-Spencer, was promoted to Brigadier General.
In handing over the instruments, Warner said this was the first time that the rank of Major General was bestowed on a serving soldier, and long before his retirement from the Defence Force.
