Letter: Minister Douglas must account for Carnival expenditure

Now that the Carnival is over, we enter the customary season of Lent. Lent is a time for reflection and resolve. The Bible says, "What does it profit someone to lose their soul pursuing things of temporary value." Why don't we use the early part of Lent this year to reflect and resolve on the recent Carnival to see if it generated a profit or loss for us?

I'm using this medium to call on the Minister of Multiculturalism, Dr Lincoln Douglas, to give taxpayers a detailed breakdown of every cent distributed from the Treasury for the hosting of Carnival 2013.

Since it's to get an idea of the benefits derived, I'm asking he lay out the information as a Profit and Loss Statement, accompanied by a Balance Sheet outlining among other things, who owns what, so we'd get to the bottom of who's chinksing and who's reaping undue benefits.

I don't expect Minister Douglas to try to beat his drum and dance at the same time since this is serious business being discussed here. My neighbours and I are fed up of every time hearing this Carnival was better than the last without learning if it was a profit to us, or a loss!
