For the first time in Trinidad & Tobago's political history leaders of all parties contesting an election would face off in a debate.
The made-for-TV event features the leaders of the three parties in the January 21 Tobago House of Assembly (THA) election and starts at five minutes past eight Thursday night.
The debate has been sponsored and organised by the Trinidad and Tobago Debates Commission (TTDC). Major television and radio stations across the country will broadcast it live.
The TTDC is an autonomous, not for profit organisation established in 2010 by the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, with a mandate to host electoral debates.

Its goal is to stimulate discussion by engaging political leaders to debate on the issues of national importance.
The three parties contesting the THA elections are the incumbent People's National Movement (PNM) led by THA Chief Secretary Orville London, the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) headed by THA minority leader Ashworth Jack and The Platform for Truth (TPT) led by former Chief Secretary Hochoy Charles.
