PM Kamla faces small PNM protest in Tobago

Friendly chat. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar chats with members of the Plymouth New Testament Church of God. Church members were outraged over a protest by PNM supporters
A few supporters of the People's National Movement (PNM) gathered in Plymouth, Tobago Sunday to tell Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar she was not welcome there.

They gathered at the bottom of the street near the Plymouth New Testament Church of God where Persad-Bissessar attended the Sunday service, calling on the Prime Minister to leave the village.

They had the same message for the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP), which prompted the Pastor to comment on the behaviour of the people.

"It was a total disgrace for people who are supposed to be so sensible and have right thinking in their mind, knowing that somebody coming to the house of the Lord to worship, and would stand at the corner to behave unseemly."

Persad-Bissessar read Psalm 121 and Psalm 23. The pastor prayed for her and invited both PNM and TOP members.

Psalm 121:
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Psalm 123:
I lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he shows us his mercy.
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us,
for we have endured no end of contempt.
We have endured no end
of ridicule from the arrogant,
of contempt from the proud.
