Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Thursday met with the President of the WICB, along with two of its directors to discuss matters relating to the sport.
A media release from the office of the PM stated that they discussed the Caribbean T/20 tournament, which is currently in its final season at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. This tournament is to be replaced by the franchise-based Caribbean Premier League after this season.
"The Prime Minister also shared the belief of the President of the WICB as she also believes the Caribbean T/20 competition has better prepared regional players for International competition, hence the T/20 World Title coming to the West Indies," the release stated.
