The cremation will follow at the Caroni Cremation Site, Caroni South Bank Road, Caroni at 12:00 noon according to Hindu rites.
The United National Congress (UNC) announced Ramjit's death on Friday. He was the representative for the Aranguez/Warner Village area within the San Juan Laventille Regional Corporation.
In a media release, the party said Ramjit died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex on Friday morning. It said, "We pray that Almighty God grants his family the courage and strength to make it through this very difficult time."
He was a fourth generation farmer and was the President of the Aranguez Southland Farmers' Association.
Local Government Minister Suruj Rambachan paid tribute to Ramjit, saying the councillor made "a sterling contribution" to the development of the district and "represented the group of councilors, who worked very closely with his constituents and who often internalised their problems."
