PM Kamla to open high level security meeting Wednesday

Prime  the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar will on Wednesday deliver the feature address at the Third High Level Dialogue of the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) at the Hyatt Ballroom in Port of Spain.

Ministers of National Security and Law Enforcement and Senior Officials from the 15 CARICOM-member countries, the Dominican Republic and the United States of America are attending the conference.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Joseph Burns will lead the American delegation at the talks and address the opening ceremony. Other speakers will include Caricom Secretary General Irwin La Rocque and the Chair of the Caricom Council of Ministers of National Security and Law Enforcement (CONSLE) Dr. L. Errol Cort, Minister of National Security & Labour in the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

The CBSI is a high-level meeting that provides the opportunity for its partner countries to assess the objectives and accomplishments of the Initiative on an annual basis. Wednesday
’s meeting will be co-chaired by Dr. Cort and the US delegation.

The inagural conference was held in Washington D.C. in May, 2010. Last year delegates me in the Bahamas.
