In an official letter on behalf of herself and citizens of Trinidad & Tobago, she wrote:
Mr. President,
On behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and on my own behalf, I wish to extend to you heartfelt congratulations on your re-election on November 06, 2012 to the Presidency of the United States of America.
Your electoral victory, making you the 44th leader of the USA, represents a promise moment in your nation's history and testifies to the renewed confidence which your people have placed in you to continue to chart the future course of your country. It also emphasizes that you have remained grounded in the politics of hope and delivery to your people.
Mr. President, Trinidad and Tobago celebrated its fiftieth Anniversary of Independence on August 31, 2012 and this momentous occasion also coincided with the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. Over the years we have continued to enjoy friendly and productive ties which are underscored by shared ideals in the areas of security, energy, education, medical research and disaster-preparedness.
As you resume office, I wish to re-affirm the commitment of the Government of the Republic if Trinidad and Tobago to strengthening and developing initiatives related to the common aspirations and economics prosperity of our nations. Within the Americas, we can continue to enhance, develop and foster deeper integration and we can build on this progress and seize the future together despite our differences.
Please accept, Mr. President, my sincere wishes for the success of your administration, for the personal well-being of yourself and your family and for the peace and prosperity of the United States of America.
