Kublalsingh admitted to hospital; gets IV nourishment

Kublalsingh gets a medical check up...showing signs of kidney failure
Wayne Kublalsingh spent Friday night at the St Clair Medical Centre and agreed to intravenous nourishment.

His brother, Hayden Kublalsingh, told reporters an ambulance took Wayne to the nearby hospital at about half past six in the evening.

"He complained that he was feeling an extra level of tiredness and a bit faint,” Hayden told reporters. “I got him to agree to come to a private institution because it was the closest to us at the time, and if there were any further complications we know there is an ICU ready and available.

“He continues to maintain his strike and he has agreed to use IV as a source of supplementing him, given the level of dehydration and deterioration of the body.”

He did not say when Wayne would be sent home from the hospital. Earlier in the day Wayne told reporters he would return to his hunger camp outside the Prime Minister's office in St Clair on Monday to resume his protest.

Wayne's wife, Dr Sylvia Moodie-Kublalsingh, visited him briefly Friday.
During the day Kublalsingh was taken to a private ambulance for checks after showing signs of severe exhaustion. Medical personnel checked his vitals as a precaution, his brother told reporters.

The environmentalist was later taken out of the vehicle in a stretcher and was greeted with chants of encouragement from his supporters.
Earlier in the day the leader of the Highway Reroute Movement made an announcement to the media in which he refuted a statement by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar that she did not renege on a promise to do a technical review of the highway project.
He also spoke about his health, explaining that he may be suffering from the first sign of kidney failure. That could lead to multi organ failure and death. However he said he is determined to continue his hunger strike.
