A porter who works at Piarco International Airport has appeared in court on a charge of threatening to kill Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and is due to be back in court on November 8 to answer the charge.

A Port of Spain Magistrate on Monday granted Nicolai Marfan, 23, bail in the sum of $75,000. However he spent the night behind bars because the legal documents were not prepared by the time the court closed for the day.

Marfan is accused of calling the E-999 Rapid Response Unit last Wednesday stating he was going to kill Persad-Bissessar. He pleaded not guilty. He did not have legal representation and told the magistrate,
"I have a lawyer, but I have no idea where he is and I can't remember his name."
In keeping with bail conditions Marfan is required to report to the Besson Street Police Station every Monday and Thursday.
