Letter: Hypolite gets his wish

This is the latest jotting brought to you by my now world famous copybook recordings of what happens in Parliament.

I regret to announce this intimates Mr Nileung Hypolite has gotten his wish, as a murder has taken place in Laventille.

In the House of Representatives, October 5th 2012, Mr. N. Hypolite, talking in response to a very good budget, instead of talking up the people who voted for him to talk, tried to make out that those people are killers. But, let my copybook talk, not me:

"Mr Hypolite: The Minister of National Security is now saying that there has not been a single murder in Laventille for 26 days. Mr. Speaker, that is not true! Mr. Speaker, that is not true! Mr. Speaker, Laventille is not just John John! Laventille takes up Beetham! Beetham is also part of Laventille!"

Well, Mr Hypolite! I hope you're happy now? Somebody got gunned down in Laventille earlier today, before daybreak, while you were sleeping.

Happy or not, let me warn you not to call my name in your prayers, because like you have some uncanny ability to make things happen by just wishing for it.

In fact, in a perverse kind of way, you remind me of this old Walt Disney song from Pinnochio:

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfilment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true
