Minister of Finance Larry Howai has hired two new lawyers to replace Seenath Jairam and Joseph Toney for the CLICO/HCU commission of enquiry.
They are Queen's Counsel Vincent Nelson and Roger Kawalsingh, an attorney with San Fernando firm Hobsons. They will join Jagdeo Singh to represent the state.
Two key witnesses are scheduled to give testimony when the enquire resumes - former ministers Karen Nunez-Tesheira and Conrad Enill. Nunez-Tesceira was the minister of finance in the Manning PNM administration who oversaw the bailout for Clico.
Jairam and Toney returned their briefs earlier in the week.
