Letter: Rowley has cocoa in the sun so he wants AG fired

As International Relations Officer of the United National Congress, I am again compelled to respond to the wrangling of the PNM and its leader Dr Keith Rowley.

Dr Rowley is yet again on a self seeking path. It is already in the public’s domain that the section 34 issue has been resolved. The Honourable Prime Minister in her wisdom, knowledge and understanding of her investigation and the law has led the government in correcting the issue of section 34.

Firstly, the Honourable Prime Minister convened the Parliament and repealed section 34, secondly she fully and extensively investigated the events surrounding the early proclamation and thirdly by using the Iron Fist of Leadership; which resulted in the firing of the Minister of Justice.

Dr Keith Rowley must tell the country his true motive for lobbying for the dismissal of the Honourable Attorney General. Dr Rowley is seeking to protect his PNM friends and cohorts all of whom have civil proceedings pending against them by the state.

While the country waits for the police and DPP to complete their work regarding any possible charges against PNM bigwigs like Calder Hart and friends, the Attorney General in his wisdom and unparalleled skill has initiated civil proceedings against PNM financiers and associates which include Calder Hart, Ken Julien and several others.

Dr Rowley is fully aware of these proceedings and the initiatives by the Honourable Attorney General to recover what has been taken from the pockets of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. In this regard, it is clear that Dr Rowley’s call for AG Ramlogan’s dismissal is both a diversionary tactic and an attempt to block the progress of the law.

I once again reiterate that Dr Keith Rowley is an irresponsible Opposition Leader whose utterances are misleading to the citizenry of Trinidad and Tobago and also hypocritical since he is only seeking to protect the friends of the PNM from the law.

Dr Keith Rowley should note that unlike his predecessor the Honourable Attorney General is a man of integrity who understands his oath of office and his duty to the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

Furthermore, Dr Rowley should understand that the Honourable Kamla Persad Bissessar, Prime Minister continues to be a more popular Leader than him and more popular Prime Minister than her predecessor since her actions continue to be in the interest of the people of Trinidad and Tobago to whom she has dedicated her service.
