Letter: Brief Commentary on Peter’s Column

World leaders, though servants of the people, do not hold the people as their equals, far less as employers.

Not even Olympic Gold nor the Nobel Prize can make a citizen deserving of their adulation as they sit insulated in ivory offices far from the masses.

Our leaders are more egalitarian and wisely seek to use rare success to inspire and motivate our indolent, ambitionless and sometimes criminal elements to dignified attainment and excellence.

The PPG has not claimed any hand in the unexpected success of Keshorn or his colleagues.

It has unstintingly rewarded the victors and finding an opportunity to develop latent success in the nation’s youth seeks to exploit the opportunity while elevating the status of otherwise ordinary young men and women, by funding their future endeavours.

Our 50th year has been blessed with a “golden egg” opportunity to breed a generation of success in every direction. We must extract the gene from the egg’s DNA and implant it in our nation.

This is a watershed year for us and misunderstanding the potential of our opportunity will only obstruct the Government’s clear vision.

We are only now gaining our rankings in Global assessment, and our parochialism will be slowly left behind.

A once colonial people need time to attain full maturity. Our cognoscenti must all become visionaries and support rather than condemn what may need clarification.
