Manning's sick leave extended to Oct. 24

The Trinidad & Tobago Parliament agreed Friday to extend sick leave for the MP for San Fernando East, former PM Patrick Manning, until October 24.

Manning suffered a stroke in January and had gone to the United States for additional medical treatment and physical therapy. He returned home earlier this month. His initial sick leave expired on July 24 while Parliament was in recess.

Speaker Wade Mark advised the House that Manning had requested an extension of his sick leave from July 25 to October 24 because of his continued illness. Mark approved the leave.

Friday was Manning's 66th birthday. Attorney General Anand Ramlogan took the opportunity to wish Manning a happy birthday in his absence.
