In today’s Sunday Guardian (July 1, 2012) the front page headline reads “$10 Million for Shaq Attack”.
The article that accompanies the front page on page three of the Guardian reads “Jack launches Shaq Attack in Beetham.” More importantly, the first three paragraphs of the article written by Anika Gumbs reads as follows:
“Ten million dollars—that is the estimated cost attached to the new social programme that has been launched by the Ministry of National Security geared at deterring delinquent youths from a life of crime. The initiative is the latest move by Minister of National Security Jack Warner who is bent on pulling out all the stops to take back T&T from the criminals.
"Warner launched a “Shaq Attack” in Beetham yesterday as National Basketball Association (NBA) legend Dr Shaquille O’Neal was on hand to launch the Hoop of Life initiative. The NBA star was flown into T&T for the launch of the initiative, leaving many stunned.
"Entitled the Hoop of Life, the programme was unveiled by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar at a key distribution ceremony held by the Housing Development Corporation at Beetham Gardens to residents whose homes were gutted by fire following an arson attack in Trou Macaque last year. Partnering in the joint venture are—Ministry of Housing, Land and Marine Affairs, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and National Infrastructure Development Company."
I have placed emphasis on it if only to highlight the absolute mischief by the Guardian in what is considered a paper with some level of integrity for truth.
This is not the first time that the Guardian has done such a thing and it is incumbent upon the owners and managers of the paper to correct this in short measure.
It is the same Guardian which had published a front page and for days continued to damage my reputation about my qualifications. They published an apology which was hidden at the bottom of the third page.
One can only conclude that this is wickedness against a legitimately elected govt and again gives rise to the question as to what the Guardian or specific individuals have against the members of the Government. An explanation is due!
