On Wednesday Persad-Bissessar will launch the Caribbean Local Economic Development (CARILED) Programme, which is a CDN$23.2 million project funded by the Canadian International Development Association (CIDA).
The OPM said the Prime Minister has also been invited to deliver the keynote address at New York University’s (NYU) Convocation Ceremony for the Graduating Class of 2012 LLM students the same day.

The six-year programme is aimed at strengthening local governance and stimulating local economic growth throughout the region. CARILED's headquarters would be located in Trinidad.
Persad-Bissessar will also participate in the CLGF's Annual Board Meeting on Thursday. She is an honorary patron of the CLGF along with the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, and Helen Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
From Belize, the Prime Minister will travel to New York where she will deliver a statement on Friday at the UN High-Level Debate on the theme: "The State of the World Economy and Finance in 2012" along with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
A media release from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) Monday said the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral discussions with Michelle Bachelet, Executive-Director of UN Women, to identify opportunities for further collaboration between Trinidad & Tobago and UN Women.

Her final stop will be in Barbados on May 20 for a Special CARICOM meeting to discuss matters pertaining to the Caribbean Court of Justice. The next day she will participate in the Second CARICOM-Mexico Summit before returning to Trinidad on the 22 May.
