Jack promises love to defeat hate

"Attack with full force! Attack with full force!"

Those were the fighting words that Jack Warner chose to begin his address Thursday night at the People's Partnership 2nd anniversary rally at Mid Centre Mall in Chaguanas.

He used the words of former Prime Minister ANR Robinson, who urged the security forces to crush the Muslimeen rebellion on July 27, 1990. Robinson was at the time a hostage in the Parliament along with other MPs and members of his cabinet .

Warner was describing what the opposition People's National Movement (PNM) is doing to try to bring down the People's Partnership government. He said Robinson's words in a different context have become attractive to the government's opponents.

"From Sunday to Sunday, from Monday to Monday, January to December, 24/7" they attack with full force, he said, adding that the attacks come from everywhere from the media to online social networks and even in houses of prayer.

Warner said there is too much hate in the country and urged citizens to remove their hate by converting them. "Where they produce hate, we shall produce love," he said.

The Chaguanas West MP and chairman of the United National Congress said after two years the PNM still cannot come to terms with their loss to "a young woman from Siparia who fought against all odds to occupy the seat of power".

He added, "Nothing can please our detractors who want us to die politically". However he said the People's Partnership will shower them with love instead of returning the hate.

Warner said two years ago the coalition inherited a nation "living on borrowed time". He said the attacks have been non-stop although no one did the same when the Manning PNM government was in office from 2002 to 2010.

"They can attack us but they cannot change our effort to create a just and fair society" because the government is united and standing strong. He noted that the hallmarks of the People's Partnership government include the rejection of racism, discrimination, sexism and divisiveness.

He called on supporters to "help us govern" and pledged that the government will continue its mission of service and reduce crime, corruption and discrimination.

Warner said the partnership will remain strong and united under one leader and predicted that the country will be prosperous again. No one can divide the partnership, he said.
