Attorneys for Caribbean Communications Network (TV6) asked Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar on Monday if they can appear for the organisation to answer nine criminal charges arising out of the broadcast of video on the station's Crime Watch program.
The magistrate said she would rule on the matter next month. TV6 and the Crime Watch host, Ian Alleyne are charged with several counts under the Sexual Offenders Act for showing video of a criminal act being committed. The video was broadcast on three separate days.
Alleyne's case and the TV station's application will be dealt with on June 26.
Police prosecutor Sgt Ricky Lochan told the court the officer who laid the charges has already submitted the relevant files to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in order to have a State attorney appointed to deal with the matter.
