Rowley says PNM will decide if it will discipline Lee Sing

Keith Rowley told reporters Monday the People’s National Movement (PNM) will decide whether any disciplinary action should be taken against Port-of-Spain mayor Louis Lee Sing.

Lee Sing complained to PNM Chairman Franklin Khan that the motion of ‘no confidence’ in Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar might backfire on Rowley.

Speaking at his regular Monday news conference, Rowley expressed concern about Lee Sing's intervention.

"Of course I would have concerns about that because when I am going into battle I would like to have all my troops behind me," Rowley said in response to a reporter's question about whether he was bothered about Lee Sing's comments.

He added, “No general likes to know that when you go into battle...the first time the enemy fires his salvo, you turn tail and start firing on your own troops. No general likes that.”

The PNM leader said Lee Sing's letter was "unfortunate" since it's aim was not to "strengthen our morale.”

He said Lee Sing’s "untimely" intervention won't prevent him for his national objectives. He also stated that with respect to disciplinary action the PNM would deal with that "if they choose to."
