"…No! India is not our mother! Africa is not our mother! China is not our mother! Europe is not our mother! We have only one mother: and that is Trinidad and Tobago! Only one mother!.
"But India is our grandmother! Africa is our grandmother! Europe is our grandmother!”
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar made those remarks Thursday in New Delhi.
A reliable source told JYOTI an Afro-Trinidadian called Quincy Jones did a rendition of Kathak dance, but not on the stage, which was lined up with musical instruments.
"Quincy has performed the routine a few times before at T&T High Commission functions...and he’s good," the source said.
There was Indian music, with High Commissioner Chandradath Singh playing the drums and then there was a brilliant fusion of all things Caribbean and African, with the Pan coming out strongly.
"There’s a big business delegation travelling with her, over 160 businessmen. There are 7 ministers. I think they are putting up an impressive show in India, the best of Trini I have seen thus far. Brian Lara and Daren Ganga were there. Overall, well done Trinidad and Tobago!" the source added.
