Lord Rana is a British politician and member of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom. He is the benefactor of the Lord Rana Foundation, a charitable Trust that focuses on education in the rural areas of Punjab.
The Reception, which was attended by ministers of Government from Trinidad and Tobago, sports Ambassadors Brian Lara and Darren Ganga and Trade Mission delegates, created an opportunity for networking with business counterparts from India who also attended the event.
Trinidad & Tobago's High commissioner to India, Chandradath Singh and his wife Anita, together with the staff of the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission in India, welcomed the guests and expressed appreciation to the Government of India for making the State visit a reality.
Persad-Bissessar reiterated Government's commitment to creating avenues for bilateral and economic cooperation between India and Trinidad and Tobago and also spoke of the important historical connections between the two countries, that auger well for renewed and strengthened relations.

"We have noted your carnival...a lot of designers in India excel in couture and this could be the beginning of a fruitful partnerships between us," he said.
The evening concluded with entertainment from Mungal Patasar and his band Panthar, and a Kathak dance by Quincy Charles, an Indian dancer of African decent who lives in New Delhi and has been studying the art form for over 11 years.
