Alexander, Jeremie and Co. issued a prompt response Wednesday to allegations made by Emile Elias, chairman of NH International noting that former Attorney General John Jeremie was Trinidad & Tobago's High Commissioner to London from July 2008 to May 29th, 2009.
It added that Jeremie held no interest in the firm of Alexander, Jeremie and Co. and was also not a member of the Cabinet of Trinidad and Tobago during that time.
It stated further, "The Commission of Enquiry into the Construction Industry had its first procedural sitting in November 2008 and began public hearings in January 2009.

"The firm of Alexander, Jeremie and Co. was retained by the Ministry of Planning, Housing and the Environment on February 12, 2009 to provide legal support to Mr. Bob Lindquist and the forensic investigation into the Cleaver Heights Project.
"It is therefore untrue to say that Mr. John Jeremie was a partner of the firm of Alexander and Jeremie at the time of the Lindquist forensic investigation."Jeremie was re-appointed Attorney General on May 29, 2009 by which time all the necessary decisions on the disclosure of documentation in the Commission of Inquiry into the Construction Sector, had already been taken and hearings in the Uff Commission of Inquiry had been substantially completed by May 22, 2009.
The statement said Jeremie's first task was to introduce a bill to save the deliberations of the Commission, which had been threatened because the probe was not gazetted as required by law.
The statement said at that time Jeremie had no relationship with the firm of Alexander and Jeremie.
It added that the forensic inquiry into the Cleaver Heights Housing project was completed in phases with the final report being submitted to the Ministry of Planning, Housing and the Environment in April 2010.
As a result of these circumstances, the statement noted that Jeremie had no knowledge of the Cleaver Heights forensic report and would not have been in a position to disclose its contents.
It said the firm provided a copy of the report to the current housing minister Roodal Moonilal after Moonilal reported that the Ministry of Housing had been unable to find a copy of the report.
