Attorney General Anand Ramlogan is wondering if some policeare reporting to the Opposition People's National Movement (PNM).
He raised the issue in relation to reports that said a probe carried out by Supt John Daniel found no evidence of a plot to assassinate the prime minister and three cabinet ministers.
"One wonders really whether or not there is some sort of protocol in the Police Service for information coming out into the newspapers or not," the Express newspaper quoted Ramlogan as saying.

"Dr Rowley had some report, I recall that he kept saying it was an evaluation of the threat. We've been asking for that report because I sit on the National Security Council and I could say that we have never ever been presented by anyone in the police service with such a report," said Ramlogan.
He added, "If there are any elements in the Police Service who are reporting to the Opposition then that is a very serious matter because we can only go by what the Commissioner of Police and the heads of the agencies bring to our attention.

"We can't take decisions on documents that we don't know exist and were never presented to us, but we've been asked to speculate about because the Leader of the Opposition says he has it in his possession. Unless a document comes to us through the proper channels, as a government we'd be acting rather irresponsibly," Ramlogan is quoted as saying.
The express said Ramlogan insisted that the security agencies advised that a "real, clear and present danger existed, that a real and viable threat existed and it was on their advice that we dealt with the matter the way we did".
