George Stanley Baird is to be replaced as chairman of the Tourism Development Company's (TDC) board of directors.
Ashworth Jack made the statement to reporters in Tobago Tuesday. The leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People said Baird would still be involved in the organisation.
However he did not say what that role would be. He also did not reveal who will be the new chairman except that the person would be from Tobago and nominated by the TOP.
Jack said he had had meetings with Baird and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to discuss internal problems with the board after which a decision was made to disband the entire board.
He added that he expects "major changes" following Thursday's cabinet meeting.
"If a board cannot work together for whatever reason, it will be foolhardy not to make the necessary changes to ensure the smooth running of such an important aspect as tourism and tourism marketing," Jack said.

"The issue here would be people's ability to allow their own personal issues to take second place of the bigger issue of development. I am always disappointed when people allow their personal issues to take precedence of the company or the country," said Jack.
