Rowley to demand answers from PM, National Security minister

Opposition Leader Keith Rowley said on Monday both Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and National Security Minister John Sandy have serious questions to answer.

He was commenting on the end of the state of emergency and the release of 17 people who had been arrested in connection with the alleged assassination plot against the Prime Minister and other members of her Cabinet.

"This matter might have ended for some, but it raises a whole series of serious questions with respect to the governance of Trinidad and Tobago," he said.

Rowley said the image and standing of the security services have been seriously damaged because of recent statements by the prime minister and other top officials.
"Once again the role of the Prime Minister in seeking to score political points on very serious matters of State cause questions, and the Opposition would not shirk from its responsibility in posing specific questions to the office holders involved," he said.
