File: PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar gets ready to depart for the CHOGM in Australia |
During a meeting with the CEO of BP she secured a payment of $1B from the energy giant as part settlement of outstanding tax debt for its operations in Trinidad & Tobago.
She also discussed proposals from another major player in the energy field for joint venture operations to distribute LNG in the Caribbean using small vessels and operating from the LABIDCO estate.

Persad-Bissessar also met with the staff of the Trinidad & Tobago High Commission in London and High Commissioner Garvin Nicholas.
The time of arrival is 4.40 pm. The PM's office has advised that Persad-Bissessar will hold a media brifing at the VIP lounge on her return.
The Prime Minister has been away since October 19. She attended the Commonwealth Health of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2011) in Perth, Australia, where she handed over the chair of the Commonwealth to her Australian Counterpart, Julia Gillard.
