The Teaching Service Commission has instructed the principal of the Tunapuna Hindu School to report for duty at the school on Monday.
However the head of the denominational body that is responsible for the school is not prepared to allow Sita Gajadharsingh-Nanga to return to the school.
Satnarayan Maharaj, secretary general of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) told the Express newspaper, "We will keep her out."
And he is considering his legal options. In a media release, Maharaj said the SDMS has referred to its attorneys "this latest failure by State agencies to act in the interest of over 500 children at the school."
The release added that the SDMS Education Board will move to protect "our parents and children who continue to suffer because of inaction" of the relevant state agencies.
Maharaj told the Express the agencies know that the principal's presence will cause a violent reaction from the parents (who) are very upset with her and they have driven us to this point."
Gajadharsingh-Nanga has charged that she was instructed to keep children of African descent out of the school. Maharaj said he believes she should not be allowed to return to her post until the investigation into the matter is complete.
Maharaj has denied the claims about trying to control the ethnic composition of the school, noting that there are 22 children of african descent enroled at the school in addition to dozens of non Hindus. He said that is a reflection of the demographics in the area.
Gajadharsingh-Nanga claimed the SDMS locked her out of the school for refusing to carry out the board's instructions. She also stated that she was instructed to remove existing pupils of African descent and to refuse to accept trainees from the On-the-Job programme who were non-Indian and non-Hindu.
